The “NOperas!” funding initiative offers independent production teams the unique opportunity to further develop their musical theatre projects at other theatres after their premiere at a municipal theatre.
A few weeks ago, the reviewer for “Deutsche Bühne” described the premiere of “Freedom Collective” at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen as “delightful overkill”. Now the immersive musical theatre by Davor Vincze, Heinrich Horwitz, Alexander Hut Kono and Magdalena Emmerig is entering its second stage at Theater Bremen on 30 March, before the final version travels to Darmstadt.
The audience of “Freedom Collective” is invited to move through a multimedia theatre labyrinth and lose themselves in parallel worlds of experience with the help of their smartphones. The backdrop is the story of an underground club in the near future, where drug excesses and the insatiable desire for entertainment reign supreme.
Further performances of “Freedom Collective”, the fifth production as part of “NOperas!”, will take place on 4 and 7 April. The premiere at the Staatstheater Darmstadt follows on 24 May.
